Italian art museum tour offered at Huntsville Museum of Art
A three-part video series that takes viewers to three leading museums of Italy will wrap up in August at the Huntsville Museum of Art.
The final video, which is free and will be shown in the Great Hall, gives a highlight tour of the artwork that can be seen at an Italian landmark. The Vatican Museums will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. The collections began with works seized in France after Napoleon's defeat in 1815. Under the Papacy, works of major significance were both acquired and commissioned.
The most notable of these was the papal apartment frescoes by Raphael, and the walls and ceilings of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo. These masterpieces are the major highlight of this 53-minute video.

Children's Chorus holds auditions
The Huntsville Community Children's Chorus is looking for boys and girls who love to sing.
Auditions for new members will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 10, at First Baptist Church on Governor's Drive. Auditions are open to students in grades 4-9. Performances will be held in the Concert Hall of the Von Braun Center with the Huntsville Community Chorus, a Children's Choral Festival in Birmingham and a spring concert tour in April. During auditions, directors Anne Chelekis, Martha Brouse, and Karen-lyn Parker will evaluate students' vocal range, pitch matching and vocal independence skills. A prepared solo is not necessary, but be familiar with the tune "Are You Sleeping" by Frere Jacques. All auditions are on a first come, first serve basis. For more information, or to arrange for an individual audition at another day and time, call 461-6057 or 534-2510.
