A special school year begins

From The Publisher

I am thrilled about this school year.

My daughter, Caroline, starts first grade at Heritage Elementary this year.  Caroline is going to be a mighty Heritage Ram.

My wife and I had an opportunity to tour the school with Heritage Elementary principal, Dr. Georgina Nelson.  Dr. Nelson is truly passionate about her students, teachers and faculty.

It’s comforting to know your child is in good hands for her development as a student. I believe most of us feel the same way about the people who lead and support each Madison City School.

You can pick up our newspaper weekly and read about the accomplishments of the students and teachers in Madison.

The best part about our school system is the variety of activities available for students. These activities range from academic robotic teams to athletic wrestling teams.

We are blessed to have progressive schools, which challenge students daily.

Dr. Dee Fowler, Superintendent of Madison City Schools, does an outstanding job leading our school system, too. I was excited to learn of Dr. Fowler’s contract extension. It was the best decision for Madison City Schools’ future.

The Madison Record looks forward to following and reporting the student, teacher and faculty successes in the 2016 school year. We would like to encourage you to submit these special moments to news@madisoncountyrecord.com.

We wish every student and parent a fun and safe school year.
