MONTEVALLO—The University of Montevallo inducted 34 freshmen into Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society March 19 in Anna Irvin Hall on the UM campus.

Alpha Lambda Delta is a freshman honor society that encourages superior academic achievement, promotes intelligent living and a high standard of learning and assists students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals in society. To be eligible for induction, the student must rank in the top 20 percent of his or her class and have a grade-point average of 3.5 or better during full-time study in the freshman year.

Seniors who have maintained the required GPA through graduation were also recognized with certificates, and seniors who had the highest GPAs in the group received additional awards.

Inductee included Sydney Zari, of Madison.
