MADISON – Visitors to Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center can learn more about robots during Robotics Day on Aug. 9.

Curious kids and robot enthusiasts of all ages will discover robots used in various businesses. They will see student-built robots and participate in workshops on how to get involved with robotics from six years old to adult.

Sci-Quest is partnering with the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama, MindGear Labs, Makers Local 256 and FIRST Robotics to bring robotics demonstrations and hands-on activities to the public. Visitors will also learn about different robotics team competitions, college courses, local robotics companies, and adult robot competitions.

“We are very excited to host the first Robotics Day and partner with these great local organizations,” said Sci-Quest education director Angela Giles said. “During this event, we will have a variety of robotic demos from area student robotics teams, including Motorized Mayhem FLL team, 2013 World Champion FTC Monkey Madness team and the robotics program from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.”

“It’s going to be a full day of family fun with robotics,” Giles said.

Robotics Day hours will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sci-Quest, located at 1435 Paramount Drive in Huntsville. Activities are included with Sci-Quest general admission. For more information about Robotics Day, visit sci-quest.org or call 256-837-0606.
