Beautification awards entry deadline set for June 14

By Staff
It's that time of year again when The Beautification/Tree Board and the city of Madison recognize area properties for keeping Madison beautiful.
Nominees may include apartments, churches, commercial, financial, government, hotel/motel, industrial, professional, restaurant, school, and subdivision entrances.
Any resident may nominate any property within the city limits of Madison that has been in existence for one year for 2002 Beautification Award consideration.
The Beautification/Tree Board, based on the following point scale, will administer judging:
* Design and Implementation (50 points): A. Functional elements (15 points) B. Aesthetic elements (10 points) C. Non-living materials (10 points) D. Plant materials (15 points)
* Maintenance (50 point total): A. Upkeep of structure (15 points) B. Upkeep of landscape (20 points) C. Litter control (15 points)
Beautification Board members from surrounding cities will judge all properties in Madison.
Entry deadline is June 14. Forms are available at Madison City Hall and Madison Public Library.
If you currently have a sign on your property, it is not necessary to submit a nomination form; your property will be automatically judged.
