Madison firefighter charged with animal cruelty, placed on leave
MADISON – A Madison Fire and Rescue firefighter was arrested and charged with animal cruelty last Wednesday.
According to Madison County jail records, Brandon Magill was charged with cruelty to animals.
According to the Madison Fire and Rescue’s Facebook page, Magill has been a captain with the fire department. It is unclear if he is still in that position.
City officials said Magill has been placed on administrative leave.
Huntsville Police said Magill turned himself in after a warrant was issued following a report that was filed on Feb. 20.
The city of Madison released the following statement regarding Magill’s arrest: The City of Madison is deeply concerned by the recent violent behavior of a Madison Fire and Rescue employee. This conduct is unacceptable and does not reflect the values MF&R upholds. As a result, the City of Madison has begun the disciplinary investigation proceedings by placing the individual on administrative leave.
The investigation is ongoing.
