Madison’s fire chief to relocate to Virginia, Brandy Williams named acting chief
MADISON – The City of Madison announced Monday afternoon that Madison Fire and Rescue Chief David Bailey has accepted a new position in Virginia, allowing him and his family to be closer to extended family. The city said effective immediately, Deputy Fire Chief Brandy Williams will serve as the acting fire chief, ensuring a smooth continuation of leadership and operations within the department.
Madison Mayor Paul Finley expressed his appreciation for Chief Bailey’s years of service to Madison and its residents. “We are grateful for Chief Bailey’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community and understand his desire to be closer to family. We wish him nothing but the best in this new chapter of his career.”
During Chief Bailey’s tenure in Madison, he made significant contributions to the city’s fire safety initiatives including the modernization of equipment, the expansion of fire prevention programs, as well as the addition of the Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Station 1. “It has been an honor to serve as Fire Chief in such a wonderful community. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together during my time, and I will always cherish the friendships and the work we’ve done together,” Chief Bailey said.
Acting Chief Williams expressed her commitment to continuing the department’s mission: “I am humbled and honored to step into the role of acting fire chief and I look forward to working alongside our team to ensure we maintain the safety and excellence our community expects.”
