Public comment period for Madison’s new comprehensive plan ends this week
MADISON – The public comment period for the Madison on Track 2045 comprehensive plan is coming to an end this week.
Madison on Track 2045 involves community-based planning to shape Madison’s future by updating the city’s Comprehensive Plan, which will be used as a policy document by city leaders, developers, business owners and citizens for decisions about future growth, development, policy and capital improvements.
The plan identifies future land uses, mobility improvements, parks, public safety and other infrastructure improvements needed to achieve identified goals. In general, comprehensive plans typically guide development during a 15- to 20-year period.
Madison city planner Mary Beth Broeren recently presented the comprehensive plan to the public recently. It can be found at www.madisonontrack2045. com/downloads.
The comprehensive plan was crafted based on surveys and workshops with a sample of Madison residents.
The public is still welcome to contribute feedback during the public comment period through Jan. 24. It will be presented for a vote by the Madison Planning Commission next month, followed by a city council vote in March.
