Sparkman stuns James Clemens with upset win

Senators go for broke, win big over Jets

HARVEST – A fourth quarter road collapse by James Clemens (5-2) allowed Sparkman (4-4) to find a way to pull off the unlikely 15-14 victory at the buzzer on Friday.

The heroics of the sophomore quarterback Keaton Williams in crunch time proved to be the difference for the Senators who scored a touchdown with 1.5 on the clock.

Sparkman kicked the late-game drama to another level when it converted a 2-point conversion attempt to slay James Clemens in fearless fashion.

The bulk of the game was defined by punts and field position as the Jets held onto a 7-0 lead while the Sparkman offense sputtered for much of the contest.

This low-scoring affair tightened up deep into the fourth quarter though as Sparkman awakened and scored a touchdown to trail 14-7 with 5:42 left.

JC would end up punting the ball away to the Senators with 3:52 remaining on the clock.

As Sparkman proceeded to march down the field with one positive play after another, the wind began to leave the Jets’ sails.

James Clemens was fading at the absolute worst time and the clock could not bleed downward fast enough for the road fans in sky blue.

JC was barely hanging on as the Senators knifed down the field with this sickening inevitability about them like they had already read the end of this story.
