Kids to Love prepares to go “Over the Edge” for foster children beginning today
The annual event will include dozens of participant rappelling from downtown Huntsville’s Regions Center building
HUNTSVILLE – The Kids to Love Foundation is getting ready for its biggest fundraiser of the year Sept. 20-21 in downtown Huntsville.
Kids to Love will take over the Regions Center downtown and send participants Over the Edge in a one-of-a-kind rappelling event.
Edgers pledge to raise money for Kids to Love to get the opportunity to rappel 160 feet from the top of the Regions Center to the street below.
Among this year’s Edgers are Madison Mayor Paul Finley and WZYP radio personality Mojo.
“We have such a supportive community full of people willing to challenge themselves for a good cause,” said Kids to Love Founder and CEO Lee Marshall. “This is a fun event, and the money our Edgers raise can go so far in supporting children who are in foster care.”
The public is invited to come out to watch Edgers rappel down 11 stories of the Regions Center and take part in the festivities at the street party at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Church Street.
On Saturday the rappelling event will also feature a street party from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The street party features a Kids Zone with princess sightings, fun activities provided by Rocket City Mom, a climbing wall, and a Virtual Reality Over the Edge experience by Kids to Love’s private school, KTECH. New South Hotdog and Sushi and Southerland Sno Depot also will be there with food. There will be a live DJ both days.
Over the Edge is presented by Twickenham Advisors and hosted by Collier’s International.
Money raised from Over the Edge supports Kids to Love’s wide range of programs that support children in foster care, providing them with everything from school supplies to scholarships to clothing and toys for Christmas.
Among the many Kids to Love programs that benefit from Over the Edge are the foundation’s Emergency Assistance program, which provides clothing and toys for children in foster care; Davidson Farms, a foster home for girls; college scholarships, and trauma therapy, which also includes equine therapy.
