Moontown Airport to host free community fly-in on Saturday
BROWNSBORO – On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Tennessee Valley Chapter 190 (EAA 190) of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will host a free community fly-in at Moontown Airport. Moontown Airport is a small, grass-strip general aviation airport located at 200 Airport Drive in Brownsboro. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
EAA is a 501c3 non-profit organization with chapters worldwide. EAA’s mission is “to promote the spirit of general aviation.” This spirit will be on display with several special guests, including:
- Saving Our Flying Heritage Museum https://www.sofhmuseum.org/
- Alabama Chapter of the 99s https://www.alabama99s.org/
- Rocket City Wing of the Commemorative Air Force https://commemorativeairforce.org/units/133

- FAA Safety Team https://www.faasafety.gov/
- USAF Major (Ret.) Zygmund “Zig” Jastrebski, a decorated Air Force veteran of the Vietnam conflict with over 200 combat air missions.
Visitors to Moontown can arrive by car or small airplane. A limited amount of free “Young Eagles” flights will be available to kids 8-17 https://www.eaa.org/eaa/youth/free-ye-flights. These flights are designed to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation. Sign-ups are first-come, first-serve, and subject to cancellation due to unfavorable weather or other factors.
Visitors can also expect hot-rod displays, static airplane displays, and food trucks. This is not an airshow in the traditional sense with aerobatic displays.
