Aubree White honored as Esports Coach of the Year
MADISON – After founding Esports at Bob Jones High School in 2019, Aubree White has been honored as the first-ever PlayVS Coach of the Year in the rapidly expanding field of Esports.
White started with PlayVS in Bob Jones’ inaugural season. Since then, she ignited a transformation that has seen the program soar to remarkable heights. She has compiled 12 championships, including nine back-to-back state championships in Rocket League.
White had three teams in this year’s final four for the PlayVS Cup. Under her guidance, the program has grown to encompass more than 100 students, competing in almost every title offered.
White has been a standout in coaching’s comprehensive community. She is a founding member of the Super Coach program and a model of how a program should be run that others both envy and respect.
White’s impact extends beyond the world of competition. As a woman in the gaming industry, she serves as a beacon of inspiration. With her positive vibe and unwavering support, White embodies the essence of coaching excellence.
White’s leadership translated into a first-time scholarship for Joshua Vannoy in the field of Esports to attend the University of Mississippi. Vannoy was the first Esports student in Alabama to sign with a NCAA Division 1 school.
Bob Jones Esports has compiled an impressive tally of 10 State Championships and two Central U.S. Championships. White’s dedication to her players is unmatched, as she meticulously manages every aspect of their esports journey, from training to tournament logistics.

A native of Limestone County, White earned a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education at the University of North Alabama. At UNA, she was affiliated with the Honors Program.
“I’ve always been passionate about everything English, and I cannot express how amazing it is to wake up every day and strive to pass on that passion to other human beings,” she said.
At Bob Jones, she teaches English 9, English 10 and Reading Lab.
