2nd annual Madison Witches Ride flies into downtown Madison on Sunday

MADISON— Madison residents can see witches “fly” through downtown Madison on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. A fun 1-mile bike ride/walk, the Madison Witches Ride, Roll & Stroll will feature festive local witches of all sorts riding their brooms (bikes), parading their pets, and strolling through Madison, AL to spread Halloween cheer by throwing candy to hundreds of onlooking children along the route. The location of this year’s Ride is along Garner Street behind the Madison City Schools Stadium on Celtic Drive in Madison.

This premiere Halloween event brings together members of the Madison community for a great cause. Organized by Madison Visionary Partners to benefit a community park project, there has never been a better reason to showcase your Halloween spirit. This year, the Madison Witches Ride is fundraising for a new Splash Pad Park for the residents of Madison. All proceeds of the event benefit this project.

Following the Witches Ride at 3 p.m., spectators are invited to the community Black Hat Block Party at the adjacent Home Place Park at 100 Shorter Street. A variety of activities will be available, including face painting, mini pumpkin decorating, a Treat Walk, carnival-style games, pumpkin bowling, food trucks, music, and the Barks & Boos Pet Costume Contest. Local vendors such as BJ’s Wholesale will also be available to share information about their new location in the Town Madison area.

Witch registration closes on Friday, October 20. Entries for both Witches and the Barks & Boos Pet Costume Contest are online at www.mvpmadison.org/madison-witches-ride.

Event parking is at Madison City Schools Stadium. Spectators should enter at the north side of the stadium. This is a cashless event, so spectators should be prepared to use their digital wallets and QR codes to pay for some activities at the Black Hat Block Party. There is no admission to this event for spectators and candy-catchers. In the event of rain, the Madison Witches Ride will be rescheduled to October 29, 2023.
