Sparkman crushes Grissom 51-0 to stay perfect

HARVEST — The Sparkman Senators (5-0) dominated Grissom (1-4) Friday on Homecoming night 51-0.

Maybe dominated doesn’t give this Senator team enough credit.

Sparkman football is a juggernaut that punishes opponents with speed on special teams, skill on offense and brutality on defense.

This undefeated team was relentless with pressure on Grissom who wilted and struggled to really threaten with any sort of meaningful drive on the road.

The numbers are staggering.

18 points is all Sparkman has allowed the opposition to score while those 18 points only came from Austin in the game on Sept. 9.

The victory over Grissom was the fourth shutout of the season for the Senators.

Through five games, Sparkman has outscored its opponents 226-18.

This game was essentially over after the opening kickoff as the senior return man Amaree Jabbar took the rock 95 yards for a Sparkman touchdown at 11:43.

Jabbar looked like a motorcycle ripping through a food court as the speedster knifed into the sea of blockers and defenders with effortless finesse.

With his black helmet and black uniform shining under the lights, Jabbar’s first strike was just the beginning of a long night for the Tigers who had no answers.

Sparkman has a week off as September comes to a close before the Senators make the short trip to Madison City Stadium to lock horns with a formidable James Clemens (4-1) team on Oct. 6.
