Bob Jones to host College/Career Fair on Aug. 31

MADISON – More than 70 businesses, schools and organizations will explain options to students during the College and Career Fair at Bob Jones High School.

The fair on Aug. 31 will be open from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Bob Jones gym.

“The fair is always a great opportunity for students to stroll by booths, pick up literature and talk to professionals from those organizations about career possibilities and college/work pathways to get there,” Dr. Stephanie Bostick.

Bostick works as College and Career Counselor at Bob Jones.

“The fair is open to all students, and it will be a great night with over 70 organizations present,” Bostick said. That large assortment of institutions associated with teenagers will send representatives to discuss options with Bob Jones students.

Post-secondary, in-state institutions and organizations from Alabama will include Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Athens State University, Auburn University, Auburn University Montgomery, Birmingham-Southern College, Calhoun Community College, Faulkner University, Huntingdon College, Jacksonville State University, Oakwood University, Samford University, Shelton State Community College, Spring Hill College, Stillman College, Sweet Briar College, Troy University, Tuskegee University, UA Early College for high school students to earn college credit, University of Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Mobile, University of Montevallo, University of North Alabama, University of South Alabama, University of West Alabama and Wallace State Community College.

Out-of-state colleges who committed to attend are Blue Mountain College, Christian Brothers University, Clemson University, Johnson & Wales University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, Millsaps College, Mississippi State University, Nossi College of Art, University of Mississippi, University of Southern Mississippi and University of Tennessee – Knoxville.

Employees from the following businesses and organizations talked to students: Buffalo Rock, Fite Building Company, Gray Auto Sales/Realtors, Heart of the Valley YMCA, International Fire Protection, KTECH, Johnson Partners Inc., Madison Hospital, Mazda Toyota, Midsouth Paving Inc., My Hope Healer, Polaris, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Target, The Salon Professional Academy, TOC orthopedic practice and Wilson Lumber Company.

Branches of the military that had individuals in attendance included Alabama Army National Guard, Alabama Air National Guard, Marion Military Institute, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marines.

James Clemens High School held its College and Career Fair during the week of Aug. 21.
