Lady Patriots Prepping For Tournament Of Champions

Madison- Still months away, the 2023-2024 season for the Bob Jones girls basketball team will be one for memories to last a lifetime.

The Lady Patriots have been invited to play in the Nike Tournament of Champions scheduled for Dec. 17-22 in Phoenix, Ariz. Bob Jones will among 128 elite teams from across the United States and Canada and currently are in the fundraising mode to help raise the necessary $25,000 to cover expenses.

“This should be a very memorable trip for us and we’re asking for help to sponsor our trip and to help through donations,” said Jazmine Carr head coach of the Lady Patriots. “This is a very big opportunity for our program and our girls as college coaches from across the country will be there to evaluate the players.”

The Lady Patriots will arrive in Phoenix and be guaranteed four games against only the best competition available. The trip to the desert will include staying at a local resort along with all the expected teams to attend. The current Bob Jones roster features eight players returning from last season including four seniors. The Lady Patriots are coming off a splendid 2022-2023 season where they were 30-4. The end came unexpectedly in the Regional Championship, which is the Elite Eight, losing to Hoover. The squad felt they have unfinished business and having the opportunity to play in an elite event like the Tournament of Champions.

“We need to gather as many sponsors as possible over the next few months,” added Carr. “We’re looking at doing a calendar fundraiser in the fall with hopes to raise the necessary funds.”
