Elite Basketball Camps Coming To Sparkman High

HARVEST- The Sparkman High basketball program recently hosted a huge girls basketball playdate to a rousing success. In July, the school in Harvest will again open its doors to its gymnasiums for three elite camps hosted by two professional organizations.

The week of July 10-14 the Point Guard Prep will host a camp for fourth to eighth grade players and any coaches who would like to participate. The Grind 2 Greatness organization will host two elite combines at Sparkman with a boys event on July 15-16 and a girls showcase July 22-23. All three camps are required pre-registration and no walkups allowed.

“These are opportunities for players to become elite-type players,” said Jarvis Wilson, girls head basketball coach at Sparkman who will act as facilitator for the three events. “The Greatness camps are a chance for local players to be seen by an array of coaches from college basketball program both large and small schools involved. The PGC is one of the best programs out there now as the camp includes in-depth training from a group of coaches hired by the PGC.”

Most typical basketball camps with what are called your traditional “stations” of skills training won’t help a child get ahead of the competition and neither will just playing games. Young players need cutting-edge skill development, decision-making practice and loads of inspiration, which is what each child will receive in the Point Guard Prep (PGC), the largest educational basketball program in the world for dedicated players and coaches. PGC camps are where players and coaches who are serious about the sport attend during the summer months with an expert hired staff, including college and professional players, conducting the instructions for the week-long event.

The PGC makes it clear- the PGC is not for every player as the camp is only for dedicated players and coaches who are serious about getter better and play in the higher levels of the sport. The expert coaches know how to unlock the potential of every player who attends.

Players and coaches are urged to register as soon as possible at www.pgcbasketball.com.

“Each participant is asked to bring their own lunch and refreshments as the PGC is a very progressive camp,” added Wilson. “This is a big event for our school and the immediate area. It’s a very informative camp. Fees can be expensive, but the PGC does over scholarships for attendance.”

The Grind 2 Greatness events are a little different basketball event. The mission of these gatherings is to be a catalyst for student-athletes in grades 9 through 12. This recruitment combine is to provide an opportunity for athletes to be exposed to coaches at all division levels and is a NCAA certified event. All participants are required to be registered and can do so at www.grind2greatnesscombine.com. The fee is $150.

“The Greatness events are an excellent way for players to be seen by college coaches and for the younger players to see what they will be experiencing in their near future,” said Wilson.
