‘A Night for Enable Garden Party’ to help aging, homebound
HUNTSVILLE – An upcoming event, “A Night for Enable Garden Party,” will raise funds to help individuals’ needs across Madison County.
The Garden Party on March 30 will be open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Historic Huntsville Depot Roundhouse. “For our Garden Party theme, we’ll emphasize services by Enable (formerly CASA), such as our vegetable garden, wheelchair ramp builds, holiday deliveries, home winterizations and other assistance,” Susan Steinhauser said. Steinhauser is event chair and Vice President of Enable’s Board of Directors.
“CASA” was the former name of “Enable Madison County.” Rebranding was completed for CASA, and its new name is Enable Madison County to avoid confusion with other organizations. The word ‘enable’ also is key to the mission — to enable aging and homebound to live at home independently, safely and with dignity, Steinhauser said.
“Did you know that 91 cents of every donated dollar goes directly toward services for Enable clients?” Steinhauser said. “Fundraiser proceeds will allow Enable to continue to serve our ever-growing client list and help offset rising prices of lumber, supplies and food.”
“A Night for Enable Garden Party is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” Steinhauser said. The event will feature dinner from Chef on Call Catering by Laura Zelenka, music from Metropolitan DJ, “Best in the Garden” raffle prizes and a Garden Party theme.
Author and speaker Jim Owens will pace the evening as Master of Ceremonies.
Enable Madison County’s mission focuses on independent living. “Our Aging in Place program is designed to enable the elderly and homebound to remain in their homes by providing volunteer services that specifically address their special physical and emotional needs,” Steinhauser said.
“Enable works with hundreds of volunteers to provide needed services at no charge while relying 100 percent on donations through grants and individuals,” Steinhauser said. Currently, Enable provides services for 129 clients in the Madison area alone.
Ticket price is $150. Deadline for printing sponsor logos in the program is March 15. (However, after that date, anyone still can purchase a sponsorship.)
“Thanks go to Presenting Sponsor, Torch Technologies, for continuing to support our mission,” Steinhauser said. Sponsorships are available in levels, ranging from Corporate Sponsor for $1,500 to Gold Sponsor for $7,500.
Enable’s vegetable garden is located west of Bob Wallace Avenue and Jordan Lane’s intersection in Huntsville.
