Senator Tom Butler appointed chairman of Senate State Governmental Affairs Committee

MONTGOMERY – During the 2023 – 2026 Legislative Organizational Session, Senator Tom Butler (R-Madison) was appointed Chairman to the newly created Senate State Governmental Affairs Committee.

According to the Senate Rules, The Committee on State Governmental Affairs, to which committee shall be referred bills and other matters concerning the organization and operation of state government, state procurement practices, state bid laws, state contracts, as well as state agency sunset and reauthorization.  The Committee on State Governmental Affairs shall not exceed 11 members.

“I am most grateful and honored to serve as Chairman of the Senate State Governmental Affairs Committee,” Chairman Tom Butler stated.  “This committee is where significant bills concerning the organization and operation of our state government will be referred.  We have 11 outstanding committee members, and I look forward to working with each of them to make a difference in Alabama.”

The 2023 Regular Legislative Session will convene on March 7, 2023.
