Guillebeau reflects on his life in latest book, ‘My World, and Welcome to It’

MADISON – Michael Guillebeau has added to his writing portfolio with his new book, “My World, and Welcome to It.”

Guillebeau’s latest book is a collection of his published stories and poems and is a showcase of his prolific career. The book is “arranged to tell the story of my life . . . as close to free as I can get it,” he said.

“I knew from a very young age that writing would always play an important part of my life. In 2000, I realized I could make a living from the written word and I haven’t looked back since,” Guillebeau said.

Because “My Word, and Welcome to It” is autobiographical, Guillebeau arranged the book’s stories to explain the progression of his life. He starts “with a poem about how I may have felt when I was born, and ending with some scenes late in my life,” he wrote.

“Each story will be followed by a section titled ‘Behind the Curtain’ where I will talk about where the story came from, and what it means to me . . . But first, to entice you into this world, I’m putting my best-loved story first, out of order from the rest,” he wrote.

He has won Foreword Reviews’ 2017 “Indie Award” for “Humor Book of the Year” for “MAD Librarian”; 2017 “Silver Falchion” for “Best Mystery Anthology” for his “Eight Mystery Writers You Should be Reading”; and the 2021 “Ben Franklin Silver Award,” second place for “Mystery Book of the Year” for “Things to Do When You’d Rather Be Dead.” (amazon.com)

“Publisher’s Weekly” stated, “Guillebeau combines humor and mystery perfectly.”

Guillebeau has published seven novels and two anthologies. His first book, “Josh Whoever,” (Five Star Mysteries, 2013) received a starred review in “Library Journal.” His other books include “Don Q” and “Emerald Coast,” the 2017 winner of “Indie Gold Medal.” Guillebeau has published 35-plus short stories, including three in “Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine.”

“I like to experiment with various writing styles and techniques. I’m never afraid to tackle any project or find new, creative ways to come up with something fresh and original,” Guillebeau said. He welcomes individuals to contact him to learn more about his work and his innovative approach to writing.
