Madison Visionary Partners accepting grant applications

MADISON – Madison Visionary Partners or MVP now is accepting applications for its “first community-impact, mini-grant cycle” or 2023 Community Impact Grants.

MVP’s grants will help nonprofit and other eligible organizations in operation or wanting to work within the City of Madison.

Founded in 2014 by Madison residents and business leaders, MVP has defined its mission as “connecting people who care with causes that matter to enrich the quality of life in the City of Madison.” (mvpmadison.org)

“Grant requests must demonstrate a direct impact on the quality of life in the City of Madison. Applications that do not clearly define this impact will not be approved,” MVP Executive Director Melanie Thornton said.

Groups can request from $500 to $2,500. In 2023, MVP’s total grants will be $15,000. Officials may fund grants for less money than a group requests.

MVPs’ Board of Directors will approve grant requests and notify recipients by March 1.

Application deadline is Feb. 10, and funds will be available on March 30. Groups must use their grants within one year of receipt.

Recipients must credit MVP in any communication and marketing materials. MVP will include a marketing package with grant notifications.

MVP will recognize recipients of 2023 Community Impact Grants at an awards luncheon on March 30 at Toyota Field’s SportsMed Club in Town Madison. Contacts for all recipient groups should attend to receive their award.

Eligible organizations are described in Code Section 170(c)2, 501(c)3, 2055(a)2 or 2522(a)2, except for private foundations as defined by Code Section 509(a) as a qualified organization. Madison County, Ala. must be the organization’s base of operation.

A grant request can help scenarios in broad categories:

* Animal welfare – Improvements to living conditions.

* Education – Promotion of literacy, along with arts and humanities.

* Food – Measures to boost food security, agriculture and nutrition.

* Residents’ daily welfare – Health, safety, housing and shelter, human services and workforce development.

Ineligible requests include administrative/general operations; advertising or sponsorships; annual campaigns/endowment campaigns; debt retirement or restructuring; fundraising events and feasibility studies; political activities, like lobbying; commissioned studies to educate policymakers and advocates; programs of a religious nature or requiring participation in religious activities or adherence to a particular set of beliefs as a condition for receiving services; scholarships; stipends or incentives; and trips and/or conference attendance (including registration fees, travel reimbursements and other expenses).

MVP will accept applications only in online format. MVP will need a copy of IRS tax eligibility.
