Madison Public Library will offer fun and scary films in October as they continue the series, “Mad Movie-A-Thon-O-Rama!” CONTRIBUTED

Have a fun scare at library’s Mad Movie-A-Thon-O-Rama!

MADISON – “Mad Movie-A-Thon-O-Rama!” returns to Madison Public Library with thrills and chills for autumn evenings.

“The Ghost and Mr. Chicken” from 1966 stars Don Knotts as news reporter wannabe Luther Heggs who snoops for a scoop at the haunted Simmons mansion. Heggs has to spend the night in the mansion to prove that ghosts don’t exist . . . or do they?

“The Ghost and Mr. Chicken” will air on Oct. 13 at 6:25 p.m. The auditorium will open at 5:45 p.m. Guests can bring food and drink in the auditorium during the film.

A 1982 flick, “Halloween III: Season of the Witch” on Oct. 27 at 6:25 p.m. casts a 2,000-year-old warlock in a gruesome Halloween prank to rule the world. “Season of the Witch” is the only film in the “Halloween” franchise that does not feature the evil Michael Myers, but the movie survived the test of time as a bona fide cult classic – 40 years later.

Before the film, a librarian will share the film’s brief history and why it broke away from the Michael Myers formula. As a gimmick for the audience, “fright shields” will protect from the unrelenting terror of the villain.

“Season of the Witch” is recommended for anyone who is 19 years old or older.

Madison Public Library’s address is 142 Plaza Blvd. For more information, call 256-461-0046 or visit events.hmcpl.org/event/2022-10-13/mad-movie-thon-o-rama.
