Chess league offers free training for tourney directors

MADISON – Madison City Chess League or MCCL will conduct training for tournament directors certified by the United States Chess Federation.

The training session at Madison Public Library, 142 Plaza Drive will meet in Auditorium 2, next door to the MCCL meeting in Auditorium 1. The free training on Aug. 15 will run from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

“Join Todd Guthrie, USCF Senior Tournament Director, and learn about the rules and claims most commonly made during chess tournaments,” MCCL Executive Director Ranae Bartlett said.

The session will be open to all adults and chess club members in high school who are interested in serving as a certified tournament director.
