Peak Butterfly Season in the Purdy Butterfly House

The Purdy Butterfly House is a must-see in May through September! Peak Butterfly Season is the best time of year to visit the fluttering butterflies in the nation’s largest open-air butterfly house. This immersive habitat is home to over 1,000 brightly-colored native butterflies, as well as turtles, fish, and frogs. Come meet the butterflies while enjoying a stroll among the waterfalls, ponds, streams, and lush vegetation.

Stake your claim on all the fun at Treasure Hunt at Gold Mountain! Hunt for treasure at this exciting, interactive adventure. Experience the Alabama Gold Rush of 1829 as you “shop” in the General Store for provisions, build a cabin out of child-size faux logs, pan for “gold” in the sluice, play traditional games, learn about the Trail of Tears, try your hand at pioneer chores and much more. Clues are given along the way so you can find “gold nuggets” along with tons of fun. The Gold Mountain activities are geared towards children ages 3-11.
