Town Madison welcomes host of new retail and restaurants, working on A&E designation

By Maria Rakoczy

MADISON – This summer is packed with projected openings for new businesses in Town Madison. Two restaurants are scheduled to join I Love Sushi Express, Slim Chickens, and Outback in The Exchange District on the eastern end of the complex.

Five Guys and Super Chix are slated for opening at the end of June in the same parcel with the the chicken and custard restaurant on the south end and the hamburger chain next door in the middle space. On the other side of Five Guys, Prohibition, a new restaurant sporting an upscale vibe and a rooftop bar is expected to follow the opening of its neighbors with a late July opening. In a separate building behind these three, Lola’s Cocina, a fast-casual sister concept of Phil Sandavol’s Mexican Resaurante, is in the planning and construction phases.

Cava, offering fast-casual Mediterranean fare, and Chipotle Mexican Grill are planned to open by the end of the summer. The two will also be located in The Exchange District next door to each other in an out-parcel along Town Madison Boulevard.

Over in the Heights District, Madison will acquire a second Taco Mama location by the end of the summer and a new-to-the-area Italian restaurant next door to Moe’s Barbecue. The Italian restaurant named Saza is the creation of Tampa-based chef Joe DiMaggio, Jr. Like its original Montgomery location, Saza in Town Madison will feature an open kitchen, loft seating, and a blend of traditional and new Italian cuisine in a stylish setting.

More businesses continue to be in the works at Town Madison. Panda Express, Panera, and Starbucks have end of the year and early next year projected openings. Other concepts like a 3,000 square foot mixed-use Town Center, a combined Marriott Residence Inn and Courtyard complex, more residential areas, and a food hall concept are in planning and building stages.

Joey Ceci, spokesman for Breland companies, commented on the growth and success of the businesses in Town Madison, “Any business that has opened here has been really well received.” He also said Breland Companies is working with the City of Madison to obtain an Arts and Entertainment District designation for Town Madison.

Town Madison continues to grow and thrive this summer and in the near future. In spite of supply chain issues, a number of Town Madison businesses are still expected to open doors to the community in the coming months.
