MADISON COUNTY – Expressions of sympathy and support is pouring into the Madison County Sheriff’s Office family this weekend after one of their longest-serving officers died Friday due to COVID-19 complications.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of one of our MCSO family members, Deputy Steve Finley,” a Facebook post from the sheriff’s department stated Saturday morning.
Deputy Finley began his 30-years of service with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in 1993, as a Correctional Officer. A few years later he transferred to the Enforcement Division as a Deputy Sheriff to begin his duties as a peace officer. For the last 21 years, Deputy Finley was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff’s Office where he served the citizens of Madison County with honor and dignity.
The post said Deputy Finley passed away, due to COVID-19 complications, with his family by his side, at Huntsville Hospital.
“Deputy Finley always had a positive attitude, and always went above and beyond to help those in need of assistance. Deputy Finley was an asset to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and he will be sorely missed,” the sheriff’s office stated. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Finley Family, friends, and his extended law enforcement family.”
“He was the very epitome of the definition of a loving husband, caring father, loyal brother, thoughtful friend and humble public servant,” said Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner. “Investigator Finley’s commitment and dedication to his division and the community is a tremendous loss. We will forever remember our brother and always honor his memory.”
At The Madison Record and Madison Living Magazine, our thoughts and prayers also go out to the MCSO family and the Finley family during this difficult time.
