Signalink Serves boosts the funding for five local charities
MADISON – Signalink Serves, the employee-run charitable program of Signalink Inc., has ended the year with charitable donations to five separate organizations.
Signalink Serves staff members chose five organizations that the charitable component of the company could support this year.
“Normally, Signalink Serves chooses one organization each year, but this year we decided to change things up,” Signalink CEO Alice Lessmann said. “For the past few years, Signalink has supported Still Serving Veterans or SSV, a nonprofit organization that offers various services to help veterans by sponsoring breakfast and participating as a team in the SSV Gold Tournament. Signalink Serves also made a yearly donation location for SSV’s Toys for Tots drive.”
In addition, Signalink Serves held a few events for McDonnell Elementary School this year, including teacher breakfasts, a backpack drive and, most recently, a Santa visit for Christmas. McDonnell Elementary in Huntsville serves students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.
Signalink employees responded to the “Drive for 5” campaign to help three other organizations:
* National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI — Mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for those affected by mental illness.
* A New Leash on Life — Animal rescue organization focused on creating a no-kill community in Huntsville.
* Rock Steady Boxing Rocket City — Gym that fights back against Parkinson’s disease with boxing.
Signalink Serves this year gathered contributions from Signalink employees throughout the year, with the goal of $5,000 by the end of the year. In meeting that, Signalink Serves earned a matching contribution from Signalink co-founders Steve and Alice Lessmann.
In total, Signalink Serves will be donating $2,000 to each of the five organizations that Signalink employees chose. An exception is Still Serving Veterans, which will present a $5,000 check matching what SSV received on Giving Tuesday up to $5,000.
The first donation was handed out recently to McDonnell Elementary School in Huntsville, along with Christmas gifts to a sponsored class there.
