Letter to the Editor: State legislators need to nullify vaccine mandates for Alabamians

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed in a letter to the editor are those of the author and do not reflect the official policy or position of The Madison Record.

Executive Order 724 signed on 10/25/2021 does nothing to prevent vaccine mandates in Alabama. The day after the order was signed by Gov Kay Ivey the same number of Alabamians are enduring vaccine mandates as the day before the order was signed.

The Alabama GOP issued a press release on 10/22/21 encouraging action among state legislators to nullify vaccine mandates for Alabamians. Since Kay Ivey signed Executive Order 724 it is apparent that she doesn’t want to stop vaccine mandates.

The Madison County Young Republicans encourage the Alabama Legislature to take up a bill to nullify all vaccine mandates imposed by any governmental entity during the Second Special Session of 2021. The State of Alabama must nullify vaccine mandates from the Federal government, Federal government contractors, and all State governmental entities.

State Rep. Ritchie Whorton, R-Owens Cross Road, is sponsoring HB31. The legislation prohibits employers from discriminating against employees in personnel-related decisions based on immunization status. The Madison County Young Republicans support this Bill.
