Theatre Huntsville to present first post-pandemic production Aug. 20-28
This August, get ready for Theatre Huntsville’s first post-pandemic production “Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll,” a play by Eric Bogosian, at the Studio Theatre at Lowe Mill ARTS and Entertainment. This dark comedy offers ten hilarious, riveting and often disturbing monologues inspired by the men Bogosian encountered and observed in New York.
Presented by a talented cast and crew, “Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll” is directed by Sam Marsh with assistant direction by Kailey Burkhardt. Costumes are by Colleen McNabb Samples, lighting by Melissa ‘Birdie’ Jones, and sound by Charlie Rogers.
The cast includes: Jon Brown, George Kobler, Art Walthall, Jake Barrow, Christopher Kelly Carter, Phil Parker, Colleen McNabb Samples, Brian Beck, Byron Turner, David Schulte, Ariel Terrell and Cherie Evans.
This non-stop tour through some oddball minds by the author of “Talk Radio” and “Drinking in America” enjoyed a lengthy run Off-Broadway. Originally performed as a one-man show, the New York Times called the performance Bogosian’s “… funniest and scariest yet… [he] has crossed the line that separates an exciting artist from a culture hero…He knows which way the wind is blowing, and in Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll, these icy currents smack you right in the face.”
“Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll” will be presented on August 20, 21, 26, 27, and 28 at 7:00 p.m., and August 21 & 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Studio Theatre at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Tickets are $15 and are available at www.THtix.com. Group sales and can be arranged by contacting Theatre Huntsville at (256) 536-0807 or info@theatrehsv.org.
