NEACA Christmas Craft Show, Holiday Art Marketplace coming to the VBC this weekend

It’s been an annual tradition in the Huntsville-Madison area for 45 years, the North East Alabama Craftsmen’s Association (NEACA) Christmas Craft Show will be held Dec. 4-6 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

The show, which was first held at the VBC in 1975, will feature a wide array of crafty creations for sale, including  needlework, ceramics, flower arrangements, jewelry, decorated and hand-woven baskets, pottery, stained glass, clothes, toys, woodwork and other items. You can usually find anything from local art to creative bird houses and locally-made edible delights.

The admission to the show is free. It will be held in the VBC’s South Hall. Doors will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunyday.

All proceeds generated by the NEACA shows are used to provide donations to Huntsville charities and 2 or 4 year scholarships for local students. Since 1973, NEACA has donated more than $1,000,000 to Huntsville area charities in addition to providing scholarships.

In addition to the Christmas Craft Show, Arts Huntsville will host a new outdoor event this holiday season next to the VBC, the Holiday Art Marketplace. The Holiday Art Marketplace will be Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monroe Street north of Williams Avenue in downtown Huntsville.

Fifty area artists will be featured along the Monroe Street Bridge between Huntsville’s Big Spring Park and the Von Braun Center. The Holiday Art Marketplace features artwork in every medium including painting, photography, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, fiber, and other fine art items, as well as live music during the event.

“The holiday season is upon us and we are excited to have the opportunity to host the Holiday Art Marketplace,” said Allison Dillon-Jauken, Executive Director of Arts Huntsville. “We had great success with the Monte Sano Art Festival this fall, and our outdoor events now incorporate new measures to accommodate socially-distanced art shopping with COVID-19 precautions. Our professional artists are all small businesses and the holiday shopping season is critical to their livelihood. We hope community members will support the arts through their holiday gift-giving this season.”

The Holiday Art Marketplace will be part of an overall Holiday Celebration in Downtown Huntsville on Dec. 5. Come by to find unique handmade art for holiday gifts and support local artists, as well.

For more information on the Holiday Art Marketplace, Covid-19 precautions, and a full list of participating artist and featured musicians visit Arts Huntsville.

Skating in the Park, Tinsel Trail and a Downtown Sidewalk Sale will be held around Big Spring Park.

Outdoor muscians for the event include:

10:30 – noon: Cheryl Llewellyn

12:30 – 2 p.m.:  Alex Banks

2:30 – 4 p.m.:   Winslow Davis
