School district shows appreciation for Madison teachers and nurses

MADISON – It’s #ThankALteachers week in Alabama, which is just what Madison City Schools is doing with a brief video tribute https://youtu.be/l5U8th4cPFs and a load of thanks from MCS leadership on behalf of a grateful community.
Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols told the Madison City Board of Education tonight that teachers are to be commended for working through all the challenges. That includes bus drivers, CNP workers, custodians and MCS employees, he said, because “Anyone who comes in contact with a child is a teacher.”
The Board viewed the video tribute at its board meeting tonight and also recognized school nurses for all that they do. Dr. Nichols said school nurses exemplify the extra work that comes with the challenges this year from COVID-19.
The Board also honored Bob Jones Principal Sylvia Lambert for being named District Principal of the Year and one of three finalists for Principal of the Year. Lambert was also recognized for Bob Jones recent coveted designation as a national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
