Fantasy Playhouse to present virtual production of ‘A Christmas Carol’

MADISON COUNTY – Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy will present a new virtual adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” that families can enjoy from the comfort of their own homes.

“This familiar Christmas story, filled with a shadowy new twist, is one you are not going to want to miss. Five actors, four spirits, three bell tolls, two possible endings and one night that will change Ebenezer Scrooge forever,” spokesperson Kendra Kizer said.

“Through shadows, puppetry and live foley sounds (or special techniques for sound effects), a cast of five actors will play multiple roles to inventively recreate the classic Dickens tale,” Kizer said. “Get in the spirit with this Huntsville holiday favorite!”

Fantasy Playhouse encourages individuals to host a few friends or family for a fun-filled watch party, support the arts in your community and let the magic continue. “This year’s title sponsor is Redstone Federal Credit Union. The production is also sponsored in part by the Arts and Culture Grant through Arts Huntsville and Alabama Council on the Arts,” Kizer said.

Show dates are Nov. 27 from 7 to 9 p.m.; Dec. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.; Dec. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Dec. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. Virtual access to this new adaptation is $10. For tickets, visit one.bidpal.net/acc2020/welcome.

“Our 60th season looks so much different than we could have imagined. Like so many other non-profits and arts organizations, we have had to change everything about our offerings this year, but we just couldn’t imagine a year without ‘A Christmas Carol,’” advancement director Megan Carter said.

“The cast and crew worked tirelessly to maintain social distance but also create this incredible production that we can’t wait for you to see,” Carter said.

Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy has provided theatre arts access through production, education and outreach, enriching the lives of more than 29,000 residents annually. The theater’s address is 3312 Long Ave. SW in Huntsville. For more information, call 256-539-6829, email info@fantasyplayhouse.com for tickets or visit fantasyplayhouse.org.
