Mask mandate extended through Dec. 11; occupancy limits lifted

MONTGOMERYGovernor Kay Ivey on Thursday issued her nineteenth supplemental emergency proclamation containing an amended Safer at Home Order that includes a statewide mask requirement. Individuals will be required to wear a mask or other facial covering when in public and in close contact with other people, as described in the order. This amended order extends until Friday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m.

As before, anyone over the age of 6 will be required to wear masks in indoor public spaces and outdoors when it’s impossible to stay away from others. But occupancy limits are ending for retailers headed into the holiday shopping season, entertainment spots and fitness centers.

The statewide mask order, first announced in July and extended several times, was set to expire Nov. 8.
