College Football Kickoff Party

MADISON- The Southeastern Conference football season kicks off Saturday, Sept. 26 with seven games on tap and the Rocket City Trash Pandas are joining in the highly anticipated start of the 2020 gridiron season by hosting its “College Football Kickoff Party” at Toyota Field.

“We know college football is the heartbeat of those here in Alabama,” said Josh Caray, director of broadcasting and public relations for the Trash Pandas.

The minor league baseball organization will display the start of the SEC season on the largest TV screen in North Alabama along with delicious food and beverages with the party event at the home of the Trash Pandas. The day-long extravaganza will begin with the opening of the facility parking lot at 10:00 a.m. Parking will be $20 per vehicle with admission to the stadium free. Games will be broadcast on the large screen videoboard inside where guests will be able to sit on the playing field (blankets or towels only, no chairs allowed), in the seating bowl or anywhere throughout the concourse along as they follow the CDC guidelines and Madison County mandates per the current pandemic.

“We are thrilled to have week one of the SEC season on our videoboard and bring SEC football to our fan base, who has been so loyal to us in this very difficult year,” said Caray.

Spots in the parking lot can be reserved in advance via the “Clutch!” parking app. Those wishing to do so, can reserve multiple spots if they want additional space to set up for tailgating. The Trash Pandas stress no outside food or beverage is allowed inside the ballpark, but attendees are encouraged to tailgate all they desire.

Social distancing measures will be implemented, temperatures will be taken before each guest can enter the stadium and masks are required.

The SEC is planning an in-conference schedule for 2020 and the opening week of action will feature seven games. The schedule is as follows: (Times yet to be determined) Alabama at Missouri, Auburn vs. Kentucky, Tennessee at South Carolina, Georgia at Arkansas, Florida at Ole Miss, Vanderbilt at Texas A&M and defending National Champion LSU hosting Miss State.
