Discovery teachers take bus tours to celebrate the end of the school year, say goodbye

MADISON – This has been a crazy year so far, and it has especially been challenging for educators and students. Despite the impact COVID-19 made on the last quarter of the 2019-2020 school year, the Madison community has pulled together to make the most of a trying situation.

The end of the current school year takes on a whole deeper meaning this week. It’s a time to celebrate the accomplishments of students, educators and parents who worked together through campus closures and online learning.

Discovery Middle teachers and administrators boarded buses today for a special farewell salute to students. Routes and approximate drive-by times were posted to maximize the chance for mutual goodbyes.

The school had three buses that traveled throughout the school zone. There were families lined at the side of the road, some were on their porches, there was even a girl sitting in a tree.

There were quite a few families that lived off the route and drove to a location on the posted route to be a part of it.

Teachers and many of the students lining the streets had made signs expressing their their love and Panther pride.

“It was a good day to see not just our current Panthers, but also future and past Panthers!,” said Assistant Principal Kate Wade.
