Senior Spotlight — Emma Claire Lingerfelt

MADISON – Emma Claire Lingerfelt is a senior at James Clemens High School.

“Senior year was the best year even though it was cut short. My favorite memory was beating Bob Jones for the second year in a row! I love my high school and wouldn’t have traded for anything,” she said.

Science and health classes are Lingerfelt’s choice of study. “I was blessed to have been part of the Health Science internship at James Clemens in the fall. We learned about the human body and went to local hospitals and clinics during our clinicals and participated in some basic procedures,” she said.

“I enjoy learning about the human body and its structures and functions. (This study) allows me to live a healthier lifestyle, and truly it is just amazing how humans are made,” Lingerfelt said.

Lingerfelt maintained an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and weighted GPA of 4.3. She devoted time to Health Occupation Student Association or HOSA, affiliated with the Health Science Department. She pursued dual enrollment with Calhoun Community College’s EMT program, which involved clinicals in an ambulance, a firetruck and in emergency rooms.

She also was a member of National Honor Society and Student Ambassadors. “I did a mentoring program through Mill Creek Elementary School and had the opportunity to mentor the sweetest little girl,” Lingerfelt said.

Her parents are Larry and Kara Lingerfelt. Emma’s 23-year-old sister, Hannah Lingerfelt, teaches first-graders at Mill Creek.

Emma plans to major in nursing at Auburn University and possibly pursuing a minor in law. “After Auburn, I plan to further my degree and become a nurse practitioner or possibly a physician,” she said.
