Tornado watch issued, risk of severe weather upgraded to enhanced

The U.S. National Weather Service in Huntsville has upgraded the the risk for severe weather this evening from “slight” to “enhanced,” meaning several severe storms are possible. This system is expected in the Madison area around 7 p.m.

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of north Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee until 10 p.m.

All modes of severe weather are possible with this system, including large hail, tornadoes, and damaging winds.

There is also an increased risk of flooding due to the amount of rain in the area over the past 24 hours.
