‘Legally Blonde’ auditions in Madison on Feb. 14-16

MADISON – Lyrique Music Productions will hold auditions this month in Madison for its summer production of “Legally Blonde – The Musical.”

The audition venue is West Main Studios, 30175 U.S. 72 in Madison. Audition times will be Feb 14 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and Feb. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. On Feb. 16, limited slots by appointment only will be available at 1p.m.; to request a slot, text 256-658-5116 to give your name, age and to state your interest for a slot.

At 2 p.m. on Feb. 16, the show staff will hold callback sessions by invitation only. The staff may schedule other possible callbacks later.

“Legally Blonde – The Musical” was created in 2007 with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach. The novel “Legally Blonde” by Amanda Brown and the subsequent 2001 movie are the basis for the musical.

The musical revolves around Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls in Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. She discovers that her knowledge of the law can help others, and Elle successfully defends a celebrity in a murder trial. Although no one believes in Elle, she surprises them when she exceeds everyone’s expectations while staying true to herself.

This summer, show dates for “Legally Blonde – The Musical” will be July 10-12 and July 15-19 at Lee High Theatre – Main Stage in Huntsville.

Individuals who cannot schedule an audition on Feb. 14-16 can request to submit a video audition. Deadline for submitting a video is Feb. 10. Deadline for submitting a video is Feb. 10.

Video auditions must include full name and age; a one-minute monologue; and a memorized minute that is cut from show tune or radio music. Bring sheet music for the accompanist or bring a karaoke track (CD or mp3). Do not sing a capella.

Auditionees must be at least 17 years old by audition date. However, 15-year-olds can audition who have performed in at least one show by Lyrique Music Productions or who receive an invitation from the directors.
