ChuckWagon BBQ returning to Madison

MADISON — After more than a decade serving Madison residents from its Madison Boulevard location, ChuckWagon BBQ closed its doors to the Madison restaurant one year ago. On Friday they announced their return to Madison in a new location.

ChuckWagon owner Mike Holley said through a Facebook video he has signed a lease on the old Uncle Maddio’s Pizza location, 8048 Hwy 72 W in front of Planet Fitness, and will be opening the new ChuckWagon BBQ location soon.

“Since we closed our location on Hwy 20 (Madison Boulevard) a year ago we have had a lot of calls and a lot on interest in us opening a new place in Madison,” Holley said. “We have looked for about a year for what we consider to be the perfect place, and we believe we have found it.”

“We wanted to stay in Madison because this is where we started and where our roots are,” he added.

Holley said it will take about 30 to 45 days to get the new location ready.

When the old ChuckWagon BBQ location closed last January, Holley said it was because the old building they were in was facing several code violations due to its age and condition. After trying to negotiate with the landlords he said he was unable to reach an agreeable solution and had to close that location. That building has since been torn down.

Holley said the best way for people to keep up with their upcoming opening date is to follow the ChuckWagon BBQ on Facebook.
