The Enrichment Center, James Clemens host Mental Health Summit

MADISON – The urgent concerns about staying in sound condition mentally, particularly for young people, will be the objective of an upcoming community meeting.

James Clemens High School is hosting the Mental Health Awareness Summit. The summit, which is free for the public to attend, is scheduled for Jan. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the auditorium at James Clemens.

The Enrichment Center and Madison City Schools are presenting the event. The Enrichment Center is describing the content as “Awareness to Advocacy.”

The Mental Health Summit is a seminar to inform the public of many aspects of mental illness. The summit will provide information for citizens and have booths for information about the numerous mental health services in the community.

This free event for the community will feature a guest speaker, booths for community organizations and breakout sessions on topics such as anxiety, depression, providing support for other people, grief, stress management, communication, family changes, suicide and other subjects.

Parents, students, teachers and community members can benefit from the summit. Organizers encourage the public to attend and learn about resources available to individuals and their families.

Licensed mental health professionals will lead all the breakout sessions. Community organizations will attend the Mental Health Awareness Summit to offer information.

The center’s Enrich and Impact or E&I program provides professional counseling services to students who need it most. The mental health of today’s youth is a pressing issue across the country.

The struggles that confront children and teenagers today are more challenging and complex than ever before. The E&I program strives to provide a helping hand to these young individuals when they most need that support.
