Sensory kits for first responders created at Rainbow Elementary

Area emergency responders came to Rainbow Elementary on Thursday where sensory items were packed in special kits for area first response agencies. The “de-escalation kits” were donated by the non-profit Tennessee Valley Unite. The kits contain noise-suppressing headphones, communication cards, dark glasses and other items that can help calm anxieties and aid in communication. The group packed 200 kits. The exercise also provided an opportunity for relationship-building between the students and the student resource officers, firemen and paramedics in attendance.
