Local law enforcement and fire safety personnel will be honored Monday

Local law enforcement and fire safety personnel will be honored Monday by the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Public safety and emergency response personnel from three counties – Madison, Limestone and Morgan – are eligible for the awards.

Nineteen awardees, including four from the City of Madison, two from Madison County, three from Athens, three from Hartselle, one from Decatur and six from Huntsville.

These commendations and medals are awarded to a highly select group of public safety personnel who have demonstrated exemplary and extraordinary service to the public. They will be presented Monday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. in the auditorium of the Huntsville Public Library.

Eight of the 19 awards this year will be given to police officers or fire fighters who have performed heroic or life-saving endeavors often for children or the elderly.  Other awardees are being commended for special service to the development of their profession and public safety agency.

The Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (TVCSAR) is Alabama’s largest chapter of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution with 226 members.
