Airborne Attack Dodgeball tourney to benefit Jets baseball

MADISON – Non-stop action will pump the fun for players and spectators at the 2019 Airborne Attack Dodgeball Tournament at James Clemens High School on Dec. 20.

The dodgeball contest is an annual fundraiser for James Clemens baseball players. The tournament will open at 2 p.m. in the gym after a mandatory meeting for team captains at 1:30 p.m.

Each team will have eight to 10 players. Game play will be based on pool play and bracket play. Officials will guarantee that each dodgeball team will have a minimum of three games. The cost for the tournament is $200 per team or $20 per player.

Tournament officials are requiring that all participants have a signed waiver on record before playing. For age restrictions, student registrants must be at least in seventh grade or older for eligibility in participating in the tournament.

Individuals can register for the tournament by scanning the QR code on the flier or visit http://tiny.cc/jchsbaseballDODGEBALL.

In an outreach for community assistance, organizers will collect donations of new socks and pajamas from size 6 and larger. Individuals also can donate new or gently used coats.

North Alabama Coat Closet at 7105 U.S. 72 W. will receive all donated items of clothing. Volunteers for this charity are community-based and assist foster, adoptive and kinship families in North Alabama by meeting physical needs with new or slightly used clothing, shoes, coats, furniture, gear and supplies, James Clemens parent volunteer Kristen Kulavich said.

Officials can remove registered participants, regardless of age, from the activity or premises if their behavior or conduct is deemed unacceptable. Unacceptable conduct can be (but not limited) to unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct.

Directing the James Clemens Baseball program are Johnny Johnson as head coach, T.J. Orr as associate head coach and assistant coaches Brandon Byrd, Todd Carter, James Dean, Rhys Hartung and Scotty Adkins.
