Job corps plans annual Circles 2019 for students, sponsors

MADISON – The Annual Circles Luncheon will raise awareness and funds for Christian Women’s Job Corps of Madison County.

This year’s event will be held at the Von Braun Center on Nov. 4 at noon. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. Guests can arrive as early as 10 a.m. to shop from vendors and local businesses before enjoying lunch and the guest speaker.

“Christian Women’s Job Corps has been bringing hope to women through mentoring and job skills training for over 20 years,” Susan D. Elder said. Elder is Site Coordinator for the corps’ site at Asbury Church Harvest. The corps has other sites at First Baptist Church of Huntsville and Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Huntsville.

“We are delighted to welcome back Liz Huntley as our featured speaker for Circles 2019,” Elder said. “Liz is a committed child advocate and passionate litigation attorney at Lightfoot, Franklin & White, LLC in Birmingham.”

Huntley travels throughout the country to share her inspirational story. She overcame nightmarish events and tremendous adversity during her childhood to become a successful attorney, motivational speaker and member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees.

“One life-changing moment came on her first day of first grade when her teacher spoke the emboldening words, ‘Elizabeth, you’re going to be the brightest student I ever have.’ Another came from her pastor’s message, reminding her that God cares for the smallest birds, and, as a child of God, she is far more valuable than a bird to Him,” Elder said.

Christian Women’s Job Corps delivers hope through life and career skills. CWJC offers women the opportunity to reach their full potential and improve their situation.

The corps’ three sites in Madison County provide intensive courses, including Bible study and computer classes, completely free of charge. Each student is assigned a mentor, and each mentor is committed to a one-on-one relationship to help build the student’s self-esteem, self-confidence and skills essential to success in life and work.
