Run2Rescue GLOW Run to help Downtown Rescue Mission
MADISON – The “Run2Rescue GLOW Run” will return to Big Spring Park this year. Registration is open for the fun-filled event that will benefit the Downtown Rescue Mission.
The event on Aug. 3 is unique in its timing during the evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and for the runners’ neon-bright clothing and costumes to create the ‘glowing’ atmosphere and enthusiasm for helping the rescue mission.
“The Run2Rescue GLOW Run is back by popular demand. After the 2018 event, you asked for an encore,” event director Tonia Beverly said. “You shall receive a bigger, better and ‘glowy-er’ race than last year.”
In 2018, more than 700 runners fundraised and participated in the GLOW run. “This year, only 1,000 open registrations are available,” Beverly said. “The event will sell out, and we won’t let down a sellout crowd.
The GLOW Run’s starting point and finish line will be on Church Street at Big Spring Park. “Runners will use the outside sidewalks for Big Spring Park,” Beverly said. The fun will start at 7 p.m., and the actual race will start at 8 p.m.
“We welcome runners to make themselves as ‘glowing’ as they want to,” Beverly said. “Runners can wear tutus with lights or funny hats that are decorated. We’ll have stations for glow sticks and face painting.”
Food trucks from What’s Poppin’, Ice Works, Brain Freeze and Augusta’s will sell concessions. “Our deejay with keep the fun music going for the crowd. Children can play on inflatables,” Beverly said. “GLOW Run is 100-percent fun for the entire family.”
Individuals can register as a fundraising participant or as a runner who will not raise funds. Sponsor slots are available in nine categories ranging from title sponsor at $5,000 to an exhibitor booth for $100.
