Madison Police Foundation Carnival

Step right up to thrills and chills of the annual Madison Police Foundation Carnival. The midway will be set up in Spencer Square shopping center on Madison Boulevard at Celtic Drive. The exciting rides, sounds, games and concessions of the carnival will be open from 6-11 p.m. Children who are five years old and younger will be admitted free. Other individuals will pay $2 for admission. Ride tickets will be sold separately. The carnival is presented by the Madison Police Foundation and James Gang Amusements. This event is a fundraiser to support the Foundation and its efforts to assist officers and employees of the Madison Police Department.

This is an extended version of the daily live guided tour of the universe. Great for all ages! Audience participation drives the focus of the show.
Journey through our solar system, with your own personal tour guide, as we explore our little place in space. This live and interactive presentation explores the highlights of the solar system including the sun, planets, moons, and even your favorite dwarf planet (which we assume is Pluto). Great for all ages, audience participation helps to guide the scope of each presentation.
North Alabama Radio Control Association “swap and fly”

The North Alabama Radio Control “Airplane” Club will have its annual swap meet at Epps Field in Harvest on Saturday, June 1. This will be a “swap and fly” all day event. The public is invited.
Epps Field is at the corner of Harvest Rd and Carroll Rd just a mile west of Harvest Post Office. The field will open at 8:00 am and close after 5:00 pm. The gate is free.
Tables are rentable at $5.00 per table. “Sale” from the back of your car and fly. If not a NARCA member, please have your AMA card to fly.

Summer is here and so is the Madison Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. A special kick-off ‘Read Around the Block’ party for the program will be held Saturday, June 1, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Madison Public Library, 142 Plaza Blvd. There will be a reptile show at 11 a.m.
This year, the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library (HMCPL) is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 by inviting every child to explore a “Universe of Stories” this summer. Information about joining the Summer Reading Club can be picked up at the library. All children through 5th grade may participate in a variety of programs at any one of the branches, including Madison. From animal programs, art programs, and STEAM-based learning experiences, the library has several great programs and activities lined up.

Join the festivities when we re-enact President James Monroe’s surprise visit to Huntsville in the summer of 1819. President Monroe will ride in on horseback to the welcome reception at Constitution Hall Park. Dinner attendees will then process to the Grand Hall of EarlyWorks Museum for the re-enactment of the toasting dinner held in honor of President Monroe, complete with the actual toasts made in 1819. Costumes are welcomed!

Sunday nights soon will usher in the new week with an evening of entertainment when County Line Road Concerts open on June 2. Heritage Church is sponsoring the free concert series on Sundays during June at 6:30 p.m. in Heritage Park, adjacent to the church at 29768 Huntsville Brownsferry Road. This location is about one-quarter mile west of Walgreen’s on County Line Road.
Food trucks will sell their unique recipes for savory and sweet choices. To-date, Bad News BBQ, Fire & Spice, Highway Kabobery, I Love Bacon and Sweet Temptations plan to attend.
On June 2, one of the Tennessee Valley’s favorite bands, Microwave Dave & the Nukes, will open the 2019 season. These musicians have performed for 20 years in the United States and Europe and have produced six albums.
Microwave Dave has played to French soccer stadiums, Bike Week in Daytona Beach and ‘blues cruises’ on the Big Red Boat, along with many back-at-home gigs at festivals and gatherings. According to the band, “Blues is America’s first — and still best — self-help program.” (microwavedave.com)
