The Exercise Coach debuts concepts of a ‘smart-gym’
MADISON – The Exercise Coach has introduced computerized assistance to workout regimens in Madison.
At The Exercise Coach, the concept of a high-tech fitness studio for the “smart gym” mainly relies on computers and robotics versus traditional equipment like weights and treadmills, spokesperson Sheryl Bass said.
The Exercise Coach at 7169 U.S. 72 W., Suite E in Madison marks the first smart gym in Alabama. Tom Palmisano designed and produced the option.
Instead of traditional equipment, The Exercise Coach is outfitted with computerized machines. Highly personalized programs optimize efficiency, resulting in only two 20-minute workouts per week that a person cannot match in effectiveness with even seven days of traditional exercise, Bass said.
The national franchise offers a comprehensive approach to fitness suitable for anyone, regardless of current fitness levels. The Exercise Coach combines bio-adaptive exercise technology with guidance of certified coaches. The exercise blends personalized strength and interval cardio training in each session.
“I want to help people. Many people my age are afraid to get on equipment that is not safe,” the 55-year-old Palmisano said. “It is amazing. This equipment is very therapeutic.” In 2000, Palmisano had a ruptured disk removed from his back; in 2017, he had a torn meniscus in his knee repaired arthroscopically.
Currently, more than 120 million Americans realize they need exercise and wish they participated more. The Exercise Coach uses its technology to capture the more reluctant exercise consumer — people who are either too busy to spend lengthy stints at the gym, dislike the gym scene or are afraid of injuring themselves.
“Other than use their proprietary technology competing with other gyms to court the most athletic people, The Exercise Coach offers privacy, convenience, personalization, efficiency and guidance to change the quality of life for people who are less familiar with fitness successes,” Bass said.
Palmisano plans to launch a Huntsville location by 2022.
Founded in 2000, The Exercise Coach began franchising in 2011 and currently has more than 50 studios operating in 14 states. For more information, visit exercisecoach.com, Facebook/The Exercise Coach or Twitter.
