Master gardeners to sponsor ‘Playing in the MUD’ workshop
MADISON – At Master Gardeners of North Alabama’s next workshop, participants will be ‘playing in the MUD’ to learn a new skill.
The workshop on Nov. 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. will be held at Madison County Extension Office, 819 Cook Ave. in Huntsville.
“As gardeners, we all play in the mud from time to time, so let’s take a decorative art product called ‘MUD’ and create some beautiful holiday decorations,” Master Gardeners Publicist Sue Khoury said.
“Using guided instruction, in just a few simple steps you will be able to create delicate flowers and leaves. This material will be applied to card stock, as an introduction to the technique,” Khoury said.
The workshop participants then will use the same techniques to decorate a Christmas tree ball. “It is relaxing, fun and beautiful. Please come join us and play in the ‘MUD,'” Khoury said.
Karen Reed will lead the workshop. She has worked as a fine artist in glass for more than 35 years.
Reed has taught fine art glass techniques all over the country. Her work has been displayed and sold in numerous galleries on the East Coast. Her articles have been published in glass-specific publications for more than 20 years.
“Karen Reed is honored to have been a member of Master Gardeners of North Alabama since 2005,” Khoury said.
Fee for the workshop is $15, which includes all tools and materials for the class. Class participants can pay online at mgna.com/workshop, or mail a check payable to MGNA to Patty Cowart, 201 Pearlewood Court, Huntsville, AL 35806.
“Class size is strictly limited to 15 participants, so register today at mginfo.org/workshops,” Khoury said. “The last day to sign up or cancel is Nov. 10.”
