James Clemens to conduct Opioid Forum on Oct. 9

MADISON – An Opioid Forum at James Clemens High School on Oct. 9 will allow the audience to learn about the threats of addiction, even to prescription drugs, and learn from relatives of addicts who suffer from the disease.

The forum will be held in James Clemens Auditorium from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Forum panelists will include Patty Sykstus, President of Not One More Alabama; Tina Taristano, a registered pharmacist; members of Madison Drug Task Force; Candice Dunaway with Partnership for a Drug-Free Community; and Tyler Berryhill, Madison County Coroner.

The Not One More organization will have its resource trailer on-site at James Clemens at 6 p.m. The trailer has been designed to resemble a drug abuser’s bedroom.

“Please plan to attend the event as it will be informative for all. There will be parents of addicts who will be sharing their stories,” Maura Wroblewski said. Wroblewski will cohost the discussion; she serves as District 1 Councilwoman for Madison City Council.

James Clemens PTA is sponsoring the session. Kristen Conner with WHNT-TV will moderate the event, and WHNT also will live-stream the event online.

A question-and-answer time will allow audience members to interact with the panelists.
