Sparkman rolls over Buckhorn

HARVEST – Sparkman relied on the football basics last Friday in a 35-0 win over Buckhorn.

The Senators piled up 333 total yards – including more than 250 on the ground – as they improved to 4-1 on Homecoming.

“I just felt the offense at some point in time would start clicking,” said Head Coach Laron White. “I thought they played well.”

Senior running back Chris Joiner and sophomore quarterback Jackob Medlen each had a pair of touchdown runs and junior running back Tavion Rupert had a 63-yard scoring run.

The defense also rose up for Sparkman in limiting the Bucks to just 65 total yards while recovering two fumbles and picking off a Sparkman pass.

“Defense played physical …,” White said. “We’ve got to keep improving because we still haven’t played our best game yet.”

The Senators return to Class 7A Region 4 play Friday in a key matchup at Austin. The Bucks host Mae Jemison in a Class 6A Region 8 game.
